Suicide is the act of intentionally taking one’s own life. The act of suicide is not actually the right thing to do. Because according to my religion, Islam, God has not permitted His believers to commit suicide in any of these ways. In Islam it is considered as a major sin, which is proved by verses of Holy Quran and Hadith.
Allah says:
“And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason.”
[Qur`an 6: 151]
Suicidal thoughts may cross the minds of people who are depressed, including me. Sometimes someone who wants to commit suicide tends to be described as an attention seeker. Whereas someone who has thoughts of suicide are needed someone to talk to and also they’re need the support.
According to healthline.com , there are warning signs that someone may attempt suicide:
- talking about feeling hopeless, trapped, or alone
- saying they have no reason to go on living
- making a will or giving away personal possessions
- searching for a means of doing personal harm, such as buying a gun
- sleeping too much or too little
- eating too little or eating too much, resulting in significant weight gain or loss
- engaging in reckless behaviours, including excessive alcohol or drug consumption
- avoiding social interactions with others
- expressing rage or intentions to seek revenge
- showing signs of extreme anxiousness or agitation
- having dramatic mood swings
- talking about suicide as a way out
We will never know why someone has suicidal thoughts or even commits, if we don't talk to them face to face. Your duty is to help them, not judge them. If your friends or someone you know talking about suicidal thoughts or the warning signs above, don’t just shrug it off.
According to healthline.com again, If you suspect your family member, friends, or someone you know may be considering suicide, talk to them about your concerns. You can begin the conversation by asking questions in a non-judgmental and non-confrontational way.
Talk openly and don’t be afraid to ask direct questions, such as “Are you thinking about suicide?”
During the conversation, make sure you:
- stay calm and speak in a reassuring tone
- acknowledge that their feelings are legitimate
- offer support and encouragement
- tell them that help is available and that they can feel better with treatment
Make sure not to minimize their problems or attempts at shaming them into changing their mind. Listening and showing your support is the best way to help them. You can also encourage them to seek help from a professional. Offer to help them find a healthcare provider, make a phone call, or go with them to their first appointment. It can be frightening when someone you care about shows suicidal signs. But it’s critical to take action if you’re in a position to help. Starting a conversation to try to help save a life is a risk worth taking.
For those of you who are currently in this condition and still struggling with these issues, calm down, you can get through this. You have to face this circumstance and we know your life matter. It’s okay if you are cagey to talk about your problem to your friends or family, the important thing is keep thinking positive. I know suicidal thoughts cannot disappear as a piece of cake. Do positive activities to develop your skills. But if you are tired, take a rest, and get the hell up again!
Sending virtual hug from me, who is still struggling as well! (●´∀`)ノ♡
