The Difference Between Eau de Perfume, Eau de Toilette, and Cologne

Perfume seems to have become a necessity in itself for some people before going outside the house. Although almost everyone now uses perfume every day, many don't know that perfume has various types with different fragrance levels.

For one thing, people are often confused by the difference between regular perfume or eau de parfum, eau de toilette, and cologne. The terms normal perfume or eau de perfume (EDP), eau de toilette (EDT), and cologne (EDC) are actually not just to create a luxurious impression through their names. Behind it explains a very specific meaning regarding the intensity, price, and longevity of the perfume.

Perfume is a type of body fragrance that is most common or most often found on the market. The prices of perfumes vary. Some are arguably cheap to some brands that sell their perfumes at very high prices.

Fragrance specialist from The Powder Room 'Samantha Taylor' revealed that the main difference between eau de perfume and eau de toilette is the concentration of perfume in each fragrance. Eau de perfume is a stronger perfume than eau de toilette because of its higher oil concentration.

Eau de toilette is a body fragrance with a lighter and more refreshing aroma than a perfume that seems to have a heavy aroma because it has a higher alcohol content than its essence.

Essence concentrates in EDT range from 5 percent to 15 percent only. This is what causes the price of eau de toilette to be cheaper than regular perfume. With a high alcohol content while the perfume seed concentrate is quite low, making the eau de toilette's resistance only about 3 to 5 hours.

Eau de Cologne, commonly just called cologne, is a body fragrance containing a maximum of 5 percent of essential oil concentrates. EDC has a high water and alcohol content compared to the two types of perfume above. For the aroma, of course evaporates faster and can only last about 2 to 3 hours.

That is the primary difference between ordinary perfume or eau de perfume (EDP), eau de toilette (EDT), and cologne (EDC) which lies in the concentration of the perfume.
